About the Project

The University of Guelph's Archival & Special Collections is world renowned for its extensive Scottish Studies collection. The collection contains various archival material that illustrate the diversity of Scottish and Scottish-Canadian history. The collection includes thousands of rare books, diaries, atlases, manuscripts and other archival material, and is regarded as the largest of its kind outside of the United Kingdom.

The Web site A Tour Through Scotland is a digitization project produced through the University of Guelph's Archival & Special Collections and uses material found in the Scottish Collection to highlight the history of tourism in Scotland. OurOntario, a non-profit collaborative that provides solutions for sharing digital information, has been used as a host location for the website’s digital content.
